Five Years of Truth: 2012 He Owns The World

I committed my life to Jesus five and one half years ago. Each year He has given me new and wonderful things to learn, to feel, and to do.

Join me in reminiscing.

2012 He Owns The World

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:7

thursday2012 was a very special year for me. I went on a mission trip with ZMI to the Dominican Republic. Many wondrous things happened on that trip. God took me on a great adventure.

This was the year I learned that He is so much bigger than we can imagine. God owns everything, and He is in complete control of it, too.

Looking back on that trip I understand what He wanted me to see was not the geography but the people. There are approximately 7 billion people on earth. All of them created by God. All of them loved by God. Not even one does He want to perish, but He wants all to repent and be saved.

He wants us to love them, too. He wants us to love the people of the world. He wants us to love each other. For me it is so easy to love God. What about people? Don’t we sometimes find that a little difficult?

Jesus died a cruel death because He loved the people of this world. While He was here he taught over and over again about love. Before He left He gave us the command to go out into the world and tell all the people the good news of salvation.

I am so thankful for the missionaries of this world like ZMI that carry the Gospel to the darkest corners. How about the dark corners where you live? Where I live?

Lord Father, Help us to love those around us the way you do. Show us how to open our hearts and be your hands and feet.

If we open ourselves to others God will fill our own hearts with immeasurable joy.

I love that about God!

Five Years of Truth: 2009 The Love of God

I committed my life to Jesus five and one half years ago. Each year He has given me new and wonderful things to learn, to feel, and to do.

2009 The Love of God

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

2 Corinthians 13:14

MondayThis is the year I discovered the presence of the Holy Spirit working in my life. God spoke to me through a friend who asked me to go to church. Normally, I would pass it off but this time I sensed that I should go.

What I experienced that Sunday was the awesome love of God reaching out to me as if I were the only person in the room. Every song sung, every word spoken reached into the deepest place in my heart. It was as though the whole worship service was put together with me in mind.

The Lord spoke to me that day. He said, “It is time.” I said, “I am ready.” My life was changed in a moment.

That year I began a journey of discovery. I discovered the undeniable truth of Jesus as the Son of God and our Savior. Not because they said so in church but because He unveiled my eyes and opened my heart so that I could know Him and have a real and true relationship with Him.

I discovered others who knew Him as well, and I began to know them and learn from them. I began to read the Bible. The words stood out and became alive. It was the most amazing thing. A new world had been opened to me. A world seen through the eyes of God.

If God is seeking you out, and He does, open your heart to Him. Accept Jesus, the Son of God, as your Savior. He will fill your heart with new desires. He will show you the world as you have never seen it before, and you will be amazed!

I love that about God!

God is Teaching Me About…

From giving Him my all to giving up control, join me this week as I share some things God has been teaching me lately.

More than Three Letters

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:5, NIV

ALL_WEDNESDAY-300x238I’ve read today’s verse many times and thought, “Of course I should love God with all of myself. Sure, I am doing that. Check. Move on to the next verse.” While reading the verse, I sped through the little word all each time. But I’m learning that all is truly the key word here.

It’s easy to love God with part of my heart, part of my soul, and part of my strength. I’m beginning to understand the difficulty of what He is truly asking us to do. I’m beginning to see that all encompasses much more than three letters.

All means loving God when my world falls apart, when my plans are crushed, and when my dreams are shattered. When circumstances pull me deep into the dark place, where is my all? Buried in self-pity?

When I’m in the pit, do I reach my arms up to God? Or sit in the mud and feel sorry for myself? In the dark places, I usually put all my heart, soul and strength into surviving. When I take a piece of God’s all and keep it for myself, it gets ugly. I grasp onto that slice of self-sufficiency and hide in the corner trying to make myself feel better. Here’s the problem with taking part of God’s all into the corner with me—my hands are clenched tightly and my back is turned. I am not reaching up to God with open hands to accept all He is offering to me.

Jesus didn’t give just part of Himself as payment for our sins. He gave ALL of Himself.

Lord, we tend to hold back pieces of our hearts. We want to give You ALL of our hearts, souls, and strength. Teach us to let go of those pieces that we’re grasping tightly and find our ALL in You. Amen

Humbly learning these lessons,

Allison
